November Newsletter

I know, I know, I barely made it. But, technically, it is still November! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. The last session was fantastic! We welcomed lots of new brothers and sisters, and had three awesome grad shows. I have some pics below and more to come. I will definitely do another newsletter in December (I had planned to just do one Holiday newsletter) because there is a lot going on in January, and I want to get all the info to you. Hope to see you all soon!

As always, any items you have for the newsletter can be sent to rubberchickengazette@gmail.com

Grad Show Pics

Here are some pictures from the last session of grad shows. I will be posting more pics on the website as soon as possible.

Comedy is Queer-December 5

This show was a huge hit last time, so don't miss it! Several of your sisters are in the show, plus some friends of the class. These are very funny comics, and this edition is heavy on the chicks! Woohoo! Don't just hear about it the next day, see it live! Last chance to get your Queer on before the Holidays! Remember, alums get in for only $4!

Derrick Jackson taking over La Casa Blue

Booking and hosting La Casa Blue is getting to be too much for me with my schedule. I am turning it over to our good friend, the awesome and very funny Derrick Jackson. They will continue to do the show there every Friday night. To get booked at La Casa from now on, email Derrick at funnyguyla@yahoo.com and tell him you are in my family. He'll treat you really well.

Is Your Credit Listed?

If you haven't noticed yet, I have added a list called "Family Credits" to the right side of this blog (under the list of family members). Is your credit listed? If not, please let me know so that I may add it to the list of family accomplishments. You are all doing so much, it's hard to keep up with it all!

Way to go Don Ricardo!

Richard writes:
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who supported me! None
of this would have happened without you guys. Famecast will be flying me out to Austin, Texas for the final showdown. The comedy stage started with over 200 comics and now we're down to the final five. I'll be posting more information as it becomes available.

Again, thanks to everyone.

Rawle Lewis Wins at Harlem Film Festival!

Hooray for Rawle!

Rawle writes:
So we are back from New York. I am proud to announce that "Poet Heads" has won Best Mockumentary Film @ Harlem International Film Festival. We would like to take time out to THANK all those people who have supported us, thus far. The independent film making process is by no means an easy task. So needles to say, your kindness has not gone unnoticed.
This is only the beginning for "Poet Heads" and hopefully we can all enjoy the rise to the top together. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Yak Wins The Truth! Tom takes 3rd!

Congrats Yak Manrique and Tom Vrab!

Yak writes:
The first round was on a Thursday at Harleys in San Bernardino. The room is run by Flow. He is an awesome guy and is always trying to help the comedy game in anyway possible.

Out of the 30 or 40 people, 7 were picked to go to the final round on Saturday at Incahoots in Riverside. (Incahoots...really cool spot! get in now before it blows up and then u gotta claw ur way in!)

I got lucky and went last. and to my surprise....I won! 150 bucks!! Just enough to pay my cell phone bill! haha!

Tom Vrab won third!
He had an awesome set as always. All the comics did good, and I give all the credit to Flow for putting the show and competition together.

Ryan Niemiller Wins Uncle Clyde's Comedy Contest!

Ryan won Uncle Clyde's on October 18th. He won the $500 and the week long paid gig in the Ice House main room, plus entrance into the Detroit International Comedy Festival January 20-26. This follows Ryan's recent Comedy Idol win. Congrats Ryan!

Arlene Nicoletti-Legal Plan

Arlene writes:

I want to let everyone in on something that worked for me so I know it can work for you. Earlier this year I quit a job and the employer failed to pay me for one week that was owed to me. When I repeatedly called them I was given the runaround. This went on for months. I got fed up and joined a pre-paid legal plan for $26 dollars a month. I called a lawyer the first week I joined with the toll-free number who wrote them a letter stating that they had violated state laws and now owed far more then a weeks pay and that I would pursue this until there was a resolution. I was contacted by the employer who then rushed me a check for ten times what they originally owed me.

In addition to 24/7 access to lawyers, for $9.95 more you get 100% identity theft coverage, and they do all the work for you. A total of $35.90 a month is better then paying out major legal fees. Without the plan, a consultation alone with a lawyer is around $100.

Whether you choose just the legal plan or both it worked for me, and if you believe it’s something you would like for yourself. Please email me or call my voice mail at (818) 754-8679.

Sincerely,
Arlene Nicoletti
